Liz Spitzer, Ph.D.

I am a licensed clinical psychologist who specializes in evidence-based treatment for trauma, depression, anxiety, insomnia, and adjustment concerns in adults. I approach therapeutic care with authenticity and compassion to help my clients create meaningful and sustainable improvements in their quality of life. I work to create a safe and non-judgmental environment for individual across all backgrounds. My practice integrates principles from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), mindfulness, and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT). In addition, I have specialized training in trauma-focused treatments.

Education and Training:

I received my B.A. and M.A. in psychology from Vanderbilt University and my Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Auburn University. I completed my clinical psychology internship and fellowship in the PTSD Clinic and Women’s Trauma and Recovery Clinic at the Boston VA Healthcare System, where I received extensive training in psychological assessment and the delivery of evidence-based treatments.

Dr. Spitzer authored an article that was ranked as one of the “The Top 10 Journal Articles of 2022” by the American Psychological Association (APA). Check out article #5 on the list! This paper discussed the potential mental health affects of social comparison on social media for young adults.
